Garden in Bloom
Summer is in full swing! It has been hot, hot, HOT here! Our yard has taken a beating. The grass is brown and crunches when you walk on it...but not my veggies! I have planted tomatoes, peppers, beans, squash, and okra! I have enjoyed watching them grow. Just wanted to share a few photos from the backyard.

Scrub a Dub Dub

My latest money saving venture is home-made laundry detergent. Name brand detergent is EXPENSIVE and we go through a LOT of clothes so when I came across this post on http://www.southerncomfortlife.com/ I knew I had to try it. We have been trying it out this weekend and so far so good. It cost about 4 cents per load of laundry and is apparently great for the environment, your septic tank, and energy efficient washers.
Home-made Laundry Detergent
1 Cup Borax
1 Cup Arm and Hammer Laundry super washing soda
1 Bar Ivory Soap
Use 1 Tablespoon per load
I put the ivory soap in the food processor and created a powder. I then mixed all ingredients together and put in a pretty glass container.
