31 Weeks

I am behind on blogging!  April 12 we had our 31 week Dr. appointment.  Everything looked great!  The baby kept moving when the Dr. tried to find his heartbeat which was in the 140s.  I think we are going to have a very active little boy!

I'm starting to feel really big!  My belly is finally starting to become more round and my belly button is starting to disappear....weird!  For the first time strangers are making comments to me about being pregnant.  I can feel the baby higher...in my ribs.  His kicks feel slightly different because I think he is starting to run out of room.  I think he likes hanging out on my right side.

Lance and I attended the childbirth class that Glean Meade offers.  We opted for the one day class and boy are we glad!  They covered a lot of information, most of which we had read in baby books.  It was good to see the hospital and we feel confident that it is well equipped with the best equipment, doctors, and nurses.  The nurse teaching the class asked at one point what we expected from our birth experience.  Lance responded "a healthy baby."  I responded "an epidural!"  Of course my ultimate hope is a healthy baby too :).

I also attended a "new mommy class" at our prospective pediatrician's office.  I felt sure this was the ped we would go with based off of word of mouth recommendations and things their website said they offered.  However, after attending the class I was ecstatic and sure this is who we will go with!  The doctors are all young and well read.  They were very pro breastfeeding and seemed extremely interested in helping raise a healthy child in whatever manner they can.  They seemed relaxed yet confident.  I knew Lance would feel they were a right fit when I saw they had superman, batman, and Lord of the Rings posters in the waiting room. These are the drs that will visit baby boy in the hospital and do his circ.  I never thought I would be so happy to find a ped that we feel comfortable with.

Time is starting to fly by!  I need it to slow down just a bit!  I told Lance it made me kind of sad not to have in my belly anymore.  I know he is safe there, getting all the nutrients he needs and I've enjoyed feeling him grow and move and bond with him in a way no one else can or ever will.  I'm already completely in love.

We can't wait to meet him.  I can't wait to see Lance with him.  I know he is going to be an awesome dad and I am so grateful for that!

29 1/2 weeks

I'm starting to feel large!  Here I am at 29 1/2 weeks.  I can't believe how close we are getting!  I'm trying to get all of my projects finished (upholster 2 chairs, quilt, and skirt orders), organize the closets, plant garden, and do any final cleaning before the little bambino arrives.

This baby is so lucky.  He is going to have the best dad in the world.  Lance really takes care of me.  He makes sure I have food to eat, plays with my hair, rubs my pack.  He has even started reading to baby boy at night so he can get used to his voice.  I know he is going to be great with baby boy.

An afternoon at the beach

The weather has been so nice lately that we decided to ride out to Carolina Beach! What a great way to end a busy Monday.

Zoe was trying to stick her head out the window on the way home.   So ugly she's cute!

28 Weeks

This past Thursday we had our 28 week drs appointment. It was routine: everything looked healthy. We saw Dr Foyles for the first time and we really liked her. She seemed more personable and thorough than some of the other drs. We listened to the baby's heartbeat and he had the hiccups. It was so cute. The dr said it was a good sign and means everything is wired correctly. It is always a relief to hear baby boy is healthy. I gained a lot of wait since the last appointment and the dr told me to exercise more. I think the baby had a major growth spurt last week because I am not as exhausted this week and my belly is finally starting to show more. We will start going to the dr every 2 weeks now. The baby is moving a lot! It is such a strange and wonderful feeling. I'm glad Lance can feel him move too ...you can even see my entire belly move sometimes! Lance has been reading him books at night do he can get use to his voice. I have been trying to sing him lullabys. We can't wait till he is actually in our arms.... Until then I am trying to savor every sweet moment of this journey.

Spartan race

Last weekend we went to Charlotte at the White Water Rafting center where Lance ran in a Spartan Race. Zack, Kenny and Brandon ran with him. Libby and Jessie came to watch. Mama and daddy drove down to watch. It was a nice surprise to get to spend the day with them. This race was crazy! They ran about 4 miles and had obstacles along the way. I am so glad Lance enjoys doing things like this. Life is always exciting!

Zack and Lance jumping over the fire pit near the end of the race.  After this they fought off the spartans and jumped in the water to swim to the finish line.

Daddy and mama came to Charlotte.  We had lunch together then enjoyed the race together.
Making the trek to the top of the hill to watch the race.

Ready to race!
Kenny, Brandon, Zack, and Lance...ready set go!

They all finished strong!
